HughesNet from Stratos is a broadband satellite service that provides government, business, media, and other customers a cost-effective, secure and reliable solution for high-speed connectivity in remote areas where services such as DSL and cable broadband are unavailable. HughesNet also complements existing land-based and satellite networks by providing a facilities independent back-up solution for continuity of operations, homeland security and emergency communications.
HughesNet delivers a two-way, always-on satellite connection for Internet access and other IP-based applications, such as streaming video, distance learning/training, and intranet/extranet access, to almost any location, with no need for a telephone line or other land-based infrastructure. And, unlike some satellite services, HughesNet offers unlimited usage for a fixed monthly fee. There are no per-minute or per-megabyte download charges.
