Swift64 from Stratos
Swift64 services have been designed to meet the needs of aircraft passengers, corporate users and the flight deck. They are designed to take advantage of existing Inmarsat Aero H/H+ installations, making use of major components of these installations already to be found on a large number of airline and corporate jet aircraft, including the antenna.
Swift64 from Stratos - our Mobile ISDN and Mobile Packet Data services—support the full range of Integrated Systems Digital Network (ISDN) compatible communications and TCP-IP Internet connectivity. Capable of providing up to 256kbps connectivity, and supporting many of the popular cryptos, Stratos’ success with the Swift64 service has provided a whole new level of airborne connectivity and capability.
Swift64 is delivered through the spot beams of Inmarsat 3 satellites and is available in all areas covered by these beams. Uniquely, the combination of the Swift64 Mobile ISDN and Swift64 Mobile Packet Data services gives you access to both the high quality and speed of a full ISDN service and the cost-effective flexibility of a full IP service. For airline passengers and corporate users, this combination offers unmatched access to modern communications through Swift64from Stratos, with immediate access to the Internet and to business-critical information virtually wherever it is needed.

Recently, Stratos has enjoyed significant success in the area of Airborne Surveillance using the Swift64 service; this application involved the bonding together of multi-channel 64kbps ISDN circuits bonded together to give you upwards of 256 kbps. Through this service, Stratos and our partners have introduced various ISR, video and command and control solutions worldwide.
With more than 100 years of in-house experience and our own Ground Earth Station infrastructure, the Stratos Aeronautical team—along with our partners and distributors—will continue to develop and lead this expanding market during the migration to SwiftBroadband services.
As a result of recent unprecedented growth, Stratos is now working to design and develop the next stage of the Swift64 service. Expected to launch in Q2 2007, the Swift64 Closed Network will provide lease type services to our higher usage customers, thereby increasing the resources available to the demand-assigned business.
The Stratos Swift64 Closed Network product will be delivered in such a way that you can manage the aircraft and/or mission the lease is assigned to, enabling you to maximise the benefit of the service.
Stratos is currently developing remote command and control solutions using 4-channel Swift64 airborne for video surveillance connected via the Stratos network, to a ground control operating either 4-channel GAN or BGAN—which will provide a whole new level of flexibility and service.
